While symptoms of pediatric skin conditions vary according to the specific condition your child has, some common signs and symptoms include:
- Blister-like patches of skin that may ooze when itched
- Bright red, swollen skin

Treatments
Topical Creams or Ointments
Your child’s dermatologist may recommend an over-the-counter cream or ointment — or prescribe a prescription cream — that you need to apply directly to the affected skin at regular intervals. You may need to apply the cream at bedtime to help prevent your child from touching the medication.
Avoidance
If an allergen or other irritant has caused your child’s skin condition, avoiding the trigger as much as possible is advised.
Antihistamine Medication
Your child’s dermatologist may recommend that they take an oral (by mouth) antihistamine medication to help control the itching during the treatment period.
Antibiotic Medication
If your child’s skin condition (such as warts) is caused by an infection, the dermatologist may prescribe an antibiotic medication to clear up the infection.
