Radiography allows doctors to see the inside of your body using X-rays. Common imaging approaches such as CT scans, mammograms, and fluoroscopy all use X-ray technology.

Doctors use radiography techniques for diagnosis and treatment of a full range of health conditions. Doctors also use radiography to guide procedures, such as biopsies, and in nuclear medicine scans and minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures.

Our skilled radiologists and radiology technologists are specially trained to ensure your health and safety during the procedure.

Who is a Candidate?

Doctors use radiography techniques for diagnosis and treatment of a full range of health conditions, including:

  • Broken bones
  • Infections
  • Cancer
  • Heart and vascular disease

What to Expect

Computed tomography (CT or CAT scan)
CT is a painless, noninvasive exam that creates clear pictures of your bones, soft tissue, organs, and blood vessels. It helps your doctor find signs of disease throughout your body, such as infection, swelling, or other abnormalities. For some exams, you need to swallow or receive an injection of a special dye (contrast solution) to make certain areas easier for your doctor to see.

Fluoroscopy
Fluoroscopy shows continuous X-ray images of moving structures inside your body, such as blood flowing through an artery. Your doctor may use fluoroscopy for diagnosis or to guide procedures such as:

  • Taking samples of cells or tissue (biopsies)
  • Barium enemas or X-rays to see the colon or digestive tract
  • Interventional radiology procedures, such as angiograms, angioplasty, and stent placement
  • Minimally invasive surgery

Some fluoroscopy tests use a contrast solution, such as in barium enemas or X-rays.
