Do I have to be a University of Miami Health System patient to use UHealth NOW?
No, a virtual visit is available to anyone in the State of Florida. We welcome new patients to use UHealth NOW.
What is UHealth NOW?
With UHealth NOW, you can access a doctor from your home, office, or on the go- 24/7/365. Board Certified APRNs can visit with you either by phone or secure video to help treat any non-emergency medical conditions. Board Certified APRNs can diagnose your symptoms, prescribe medication, and send prescriptions to your pharmacy of choice.
Is UHealth NOW appropriate for every medical condition?
No. UHealth NOW is designed to handle non-emergency medical issues. You should not use UHealth NOW if you are experiencing a medical emergency. In case of a medical life threatening emergency, you should dial 911 immediately. While UHealth NOW is not intended to replace your primary care doctor for common or chronic conditions, a virtual appointment can sometimes substitute a doctor's office, urgent care, or an emergency room visit.
Can I use UHealth NOW for children and adults?
Physicians are able to treat children 18 months and older and all adults via UHealth NOW. For children younger than 18 months, consider contacting the child's primary care doctor on-call, or for more urgent concerns visit an urgent care or emergency department in person.
When can I start using UHealth NOW service?
You can start using UHealth NOW immediately after you sign up and activate your account. Sign up and activation are totally free.
When is UHealth NOW available?
UHealth NOW is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year, even on holidays. Use UHealth NOW anytime you have a non-emergency medical condition, are unable to see your primary care provider, or when you simply prefer a convenient, alternative to the emergency room, urgent care center, or clinic.

Can UHealth NOW be accessed on mobile devices?
Yes, UHealth NOW can be accessed on most mobile devices with an Internet connection.
Can a provider prescribe medication as part of a UHealth NOW visit?
Yes, only if the patient is located in the State of Florida at the time of the visit, and the provider believes medication is warranted, he or she can write a prescription for non-narcotic medications (i.e. no controlled substances), which can be sent directly to the pharmacy of your choice. As soon your consultation is over, your prescription will be sent electronically. All prescriptions are fully compliant and include all required information.
Is UHealth NOW safe and private?
Yes, UHealth NOW is safe and private. UHealth NOW is compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and will only share your information with your selected provider and pharmacy.
What system requirements do I need for UHealth NOW videoconferencing?
To use video conferencing you need:
- Windows®7, Vista, or XP
- A Mac running OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or superior.
- Highspeed internet connection
- A webcam with at least 1.3 megapixels
- Microphone (most webcams already have microphone built in)
