Support the heart of our health system

Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building: A New Era in Integrated Cancer Care
We proudly marked the opening of the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building, a state-of-the-art facility designed to seamlessly integrate groundbreaking research with patient care. The Griffin Cancer Research Building brings together advanced imaging, specialty laboratories, clinic visits, infusion services, and patient support in one space, streamlining the entire experience for patients and families.
The impact was immediate and exceeded projections:
- 1,200+ visits in the first month (82% above initial projections)
- Infusion treatments exceeded targets by 38%
- Clinic visits surged by 122%
These results highlight how the Griffin Cancer Research Building is transforming patient access to timely, comprehensive care while accelerating the conversion of research discoveries into approved treatments. Looking ahead, we plan to scale access to care by expanding operational hours, serving more patient, and integrating clinical researchers into our care teams within the next year.
SoLé Mia: Elevating the Patient Experience in North Miami
In November, we celebrated the opening of SoLé Mia, a seven-story facility designed to deliver a new standard of convenience, comfort and healing. The campus includes:
- 110 exam rooms
- 10 operating rooms
- 33 infusion chairs
Beyond clinical spaces, the campus was intentionally designed to promote holistic wellness with open green areas, a reflection garden, and scenic views of the ocean and lagoon, enhancing overall well-being.
Nurses played an essential role in shaping SoLé Mia from its earliest planning stages. Their insights into clinical workflow, patient safety, and operational efficiency directly influenced the facility’s design. This collaboration reflects UHealth’s shared promise to empower nurses as collaborative partners in elevating the patient and caregiver experience.
