Donate TodayUHealth’s Titan ‘Canes Nurse Residency Program earned Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs (PTAP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission (ANCC)—placing UHealth among a select group of healthcare organizations worldwide recognized for excellence in transitioning new graduate nurses into professional practice.
This accreditation reflects UHealth’s commitment to supporting newly licensed nurses as they develop clinical competence, professional confidence, and leadership skills. The Titan ‘Canes program was recognized for its:

- Innovative use of technology to monitor outcomes and support resident development
- Visible organizational commitment to nursing professional development

Over the past year, the program expanded enrollment by 25%, while maintaining an exceptional 97% retention rate. These outcomes demonstrate the program’s effectiveness in supporting nurse transition to practice and fostering long-term career commitment.
A testament to the program’s impact is Jared Chandler, MSN, RN, PCCN, associate nurse manager for UHealth Tower’s 7 North unit. Jared began his nursing career at UHealth, completing the residency program as part of its sixth cohort in January 2023.
“What made the program stand out is its commitment to preparing new nurses for a real-world transition to practice,” Jared shared. “From day one, this program equipped me with the ability to translate nursing school knowledge directly into clinical practice. That foundation shaped my career into what it is today.”
Over the past three years, Jared has embraced a career path defined by growth and service—actively participating in our shared governance councils and playing a key role during Uhealth’s inaugural Magnet site visit, where he served as a dedicated appraiser escort. Several of his fellow cohort members have also gone on to grow their careers, serving in various roles across the enterprise.
“I am thankful to my preceptor and leaders for not only guiding and shaping my practice, but for being receptive to new ideas and invested in my success,” he continued.

Today, our nurse residency program stands as the foundation of our nursing workforce strategy.
