We conducted the first pilot project in South Florida evaluating the feasibility of anal dysplasia screening in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Through the support of University of Miami Developmental Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) grants, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) we have been part several projects in the field of anal HPV, including the historical multicenter, randomized clinical trial, the ANCHOR study that showed that screening and treatment of anal high-grade dysplasia can prevent anal cancer in PLWHA and the results have been displayed in the New England Journal of Medicine.
