Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Shared Resource

The Sylvester Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR) provides accessible state-of-the-art expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics and comprehensive analysis support for cancer-related basic and translational research, clinical trials, and population-based studies. The BBSR offers cost-effective and efficient solutions for data analysis needs through all phases of cancer research. The facility provides biostatistical and bioinformatics assistance from project design to execution, data analysis, interpretation of results, dissemination of findings, and data management and preservation. The BBSR ensures that study design meets statistical and bioinformatics standards for rigor and reproducibility, and it provides big data solutions for multiomics integration, biomarker selection and prioritization, drug response prediction, and high-dimensional data visualization. The BBSR also provides education and training to investigators and trainees on novel biostatistical and bioinformatics methodologies relevant to data acquisition and analysis, as well as assistance with manuscript submissions and grant preparation.

BBSR services include:

  • Statistical and bioinformatics services for study design, power analysis, sample size estimation, and feasibility assessment for basic, translational, and clinical research
  • Statistical and genomic data analysis services
  • Statistical review of clinical and population science research protocols, including in support of regulatory committees
