Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is South Florida's academic-based cancer center. It is home to an expert team of more than 3,160+ physicians, researchers and staff working together to discover, develop and deliver world-class care for your specific cancer.

In addition, it is one of only five Cancer Centers of Excellence in the state of Florida.
Sylvester is currently conducting more than 430 cancer-focused clinical trials.

Phase 1 Clinical Trials Program
Sylvester has the only South Florida phase 1 clinical trials program — the first step in evaluating how patients respond to novel investigational treatments. Since 2012, Sylvester has tripled the number of interventional treatments it offers, and now provides therapies that can’t be found at any other cancer center in the world.
The goal of phase 1 clinical trials is to determine the safety and efficacy of new treatments in patients with cancer. They may help develop more treatment options and, most importantly, give hope for cancer patients.

With you every step of the way
Sylvester designs every facet of the patient journey with you and your family in mind — from a comfortable setting and convenient amenities to support services such as massage therapy, nutritional counseling, and individual and family therapy.
Once you’ve completed treatment, Sylvester offers Survivorship Programs that include support groups, seminars, workshops and other resources for your long-term care. Designed through research, the programs also address the social, economic and physical effects cancer has among patients after treatment.
